A large part of my work at Vanguard has been to bring the creation of animated display ads in-house. I created a system for standardizing banner creation and developed training materials to teach others.
The result of this effort reduced the development process by a matter of weeks. This reduction of time and outside resources is projected to save Vanguard significantly in expenses as well.
Why become a Personal Investor at Vanguard?
At the start of the year, Vanguard set out to campaign around this question. The answer: Because Vangaurd invests where it matters most: in you. This campaign aims to set a sleak new look and drill home this messaging. It encompassed an array of media outputs. Here is my work on the animated Display Ad front.
Yearly, Americans are collectively leaving huge sums of money, keeping their cash in a low-yield bank accounts. This campaign calls attention to the fact that it makes sense to switch today.
Ah, Disclosures!
Everyone hates them, but we all know you've got to have them. While these were once the bane of all designers, we've taken steps to satisfy both compliance and creatives in one swoop! Our banners are templated to allow for a dynamic disclosure drawer that can be open and closed at whimsy and provides the space to say all that needs to be said even if the copy's a length that would make Tolstoy blush.
Adding this dynamic drawer also gives us the ability to make the text in the drawer live which means that it is fully accessible to screen readers. The whole banners is also accessible without using a mouse!
Fun Fact: The banners on this page can be controlled by the keyboard alone! Go through the ad using the TAB and Enter keys.
Markets and compliance standards can change fast, especially when dealing with rates and dates. Re-exporting an entire set of banners in order to change some text can be a lengthy process and open up room for error. By making the disclosure drawers dynamically loaded, we can easily change the copy of a disclosure draw by simply editing a text file and copying the same file for all banners. There is no need to touch any of the creative files, just repackage with the new text!
